How do you use the drill wisp in knuks stagte in tropical resort?

Its a nice addition to add the Sonic crew in but the boss is almost impossible because I just bearly made it threw the boss without dying I feel like a way to make this better is to make it 3D instead of 2D and put hit points where you can homing attack
